You will also learn about German culture and traditions. What will I study? First year. Having discussions about issues that are important to young people. Becoming a translator from German to English. Writing down ideas in short essays. Second year. Exploring the history and culture of Germany through film and literature. Translating and interpreting from English to German. Writing and speaking about issues which are important in our global world. Assessment: You will be assessed at the end of the second year, 70% reading, writing and listening; 30% speaking. Where does it lead? Language translation skills are highly sought after in the international business world. It is also a popular subject for secondary and primary school teaching as well as in the tourism sector. Students can combine German with another subject like economics, business studies, a science, law and international tourism for study at university.
