The course is designed to give you experience of using software and hardware to solve simulated real world situations. You are expected to: - carry out independent research using the internet and other sources, and present this in a suitable format e.g. computer hardware or IT systems. - be able to master a wide range of software packages and use them appropriately without assistance e.g. database (ACCESS), web authoring (Dreamweaver), computer animation (Flash), image production (Fireworks) and presentation (Powerpoint). - produce and manipulate digital images (PhotoShop). - design Human Computer Interfaces to provide efficient and accurate data entry and use of IT systems. - design, produce and publish a website of your choice. - make use of advanced database software features. - present evidence of your work in a portfolio. - use event driven programming (using Visual Studio). - design and build 2D graphic games (e.g. Space Invaders). - design and build spreadsheet models (using EXCEL)
