WHAT WILL I STUDY? Students learn about health, early years care and education, social care and issues affecting the care sector. They also learn about health conditions, patient care and life as a challenge. Part of the course involves developing skills of research, evaluation and problem-solving in a work-related context. HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED? Half of the course is internally assessed through one portfolio set by AQA and marked by the teachers. The other half of the course is externally assessed through an examination lasting 1 hour 30 minutes. WHERE NEXT? Students develop a broad understanding of Health and Social Care principles and will be given the opportunity to focus on a specific career pathway, for example in health care, social care, early years care or education.
