This humanities subject is a good choice if your chosen career will require good written and verbal communication. Apart from increasing your knowledge this course will help develop your research skills. You will need to read source material draw out inferences make connections and argue a case. You will be taught a range of historic areas of study from our experienced staff. The course involves a number of historical trips including some overseas. We also work in partnership with local charities. Opportunities include teaching English to the families of ex-Gurkhas with SSAFA Forces Help and fundraising for a memorial with The Trooper Potts VC Trust.This course can be studied as part of the Arts Pathway and the Humanities Pathway.

Name: History A-level Qualification title: GCE AS Level in History Qualification type: GCE A/AS Level or equivalent Assessment Your History AS level can be a stand-alone qualification or lead on to A2 study. Your study may involve an overseas residential trip to places of historical interest. You will explore local historical sites and view historical manuscripts. You will have your own specialist personal tutor who you will meet individually or as part of a group tutorial and they will help you set review and achieve your targets. There is an extensive programme of support to help you make higher education decisions and move on to university. The vast majority of A level students progress successfully to higher education. There is an extensive programme of enrichment opportunities on offer and you will be encouraged to select from a range including volunteering work experience sport and performing.
