The course involves completing 11 units; 10 core units and 1 optional units. The mandatory units include: Supporting the Learning Activity i.e. Literacy, Numeracy and I.C.T. - Child and Young Person Development - Communication and Professional Relationships with Children, Young People and Adults - Equality, Diversity and Inclusion In Work With Children And Young People - Help Improve Own and Team Practice in Schools The qualification is an NVQ or National Vocational Qualification. To gain the qualification, learners will require an assessment by a qualified assessor, and will be asked to produce a portfolio of evidence to show that they meet the required standard. Learners must be able to demonstrate their knowledge in practice. Attendance at College is on a part-time basis, and learners are expected to attend at least 80% of the programme. Learning is achieved through a variety of methods: attending workshops, sharing experiences, views and ideas with other learners, professional discussion, and feedback and review from an assessor. Learners will be shown how to gather evidence to meet the National Occupational Standards, in order to gain their NVQ qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools.Learning is achieved through a variety of methods: attending workshops, sharing experiences, views and ideas with other learners, professional discussion, and feedback and review from an assessor.The qualification promotes development within the candidates current role. Candidates may take on roles with higher responsibilities after completing the qualification. This would enable progression to NVQ Level 3 Supporting, Teaching and Learning in Schools, and Level 3/4 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Sector (PTLLS).
