Course Content We will use AutoDESK Inventor to produce a portfolio of 18 drawings, which include solid models, surface models, detail drawings, assemblies, sectional views, exploded views and mass properties. There are also 4 written reports concerned with the advantages of using 3D CAD, software and hardware requirements for a 3D CAD package, CAD/CAM, Stress Analysis and Rapid Prototyping. Aim This qualification aims to equip candidates with the basic understanding and principles of 3D drawing environments, in term of hardware, software and physical surroundings. It will explore the typical composition of a CAD system. You will use 3D CAD tools such as extrude, revolve, sweep, loft and shell to create real volumes in space and apply material parameters to those volumes. You will be able to find the area, volume and mass of volumes without using a calculator. You will be able to generate complex surfaces as an aid to design. You will be able to assemble solid models and produce assembly drawings.
