Keep Fit in Retirement How will this course help me? The course aims to promote physical fitness and a positive attitude to health through a balanced programme of movement training for older learners. Who is the course for? Anyone interested in a healthy lifestyle. If you have been referred by a health professional you are encouraged to explore the full range of options and opportunities open to you. Your tutor may be able to give you advice on other activities and pursuits which may be beneficial to your general wellbeing and lifestyle. What can I expect to learn? By the end of the course you will experience improvement of suppleness, muscle tone and cardiovascular fitness. How will I learn? There may be demonstrations, a chance to ask questions and to practice at your own pace. There are no exams or formal assessments. If you think you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the Centre staff. We will try to help you. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. This may include developing your own learning plan. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? You may be given tasks or activities to complete to practice in between and prepare for the next and future sessions. You tutor will give guidance at the first session. What will I need to provide? You will need to complete a confidential Initial Health Assessment questionnaire. You should wear loose clothing and soft soled footwear or trainers. Learners are discouraged from eating a large meal before the class begins. Will there be any other costs? (e.g. materials, books, registration with a professional body, etc.) You may be provided with a reading list to support your learning. All of the costs of this course are covered in the advertised course fee.
