Music Appreciation: Musical Postcards

UPDATED 20160822 12:28:16

Postcards became a familiar way of encouraging others to share with the visitor the experiences of being on holiday in picturesque locations. Composers had their own ways of achieving the same with music composed works to depict specific locations or countries. From Mendelssohn's visit to Scotland to Tchaikovsky in Italy, their compositions have become part of the mainstream concert repertoire. This course is designed to enable students to share in that enjoyment with specific composers, countries and compositions.
