Summary: This programme aims to develop creative practice within the fashion & textiles discipline. Course description: You will be introduced to the basic, but essential aspects of industrial practices, fashion illustration, textiles, pattern cutting surface pattern and decoration techniques as well as garment construction. This is complimented with visual recording and fabric manipulation techniques. After successful completion of this one year course you will have the opportunity to the progress onto UAL Extended Diploma in Fashion and Textiles The project-based proramme empowers students to make informed choices about career pathways while building self-initiative, motivation and drive. Throughout the course students will have the opportunity to show their work in the annual Norwich Fashion Week show, and at a variety of other fashion and performing arts events. Students will also have the opportunity to show work in a live selling exhibition and also at the end of year Creative Arts Exhibition. In addition, visiting lecturers and study visits including trips both local, national and international enrich the overall learning experience and provide an opportunity for the students to enquire about their chosen area of study. Core and specialist units include: Unit 1: Introduction to Visual Language in Art & Design Unit 2: Introduction to Research Skills in Art & Design Unit 3: Introduction to Critical and Contextual Awareness in Art & Design Unit 4: Introduction to Material, Processes and Technical Skills in Art & Design Unit 5: An Integrated Approach To 2D Problem solving in Art & Design Unit 6: An Integrated Approach To 3D Problem solving in Art & Design Unit 7: An Integrated Approach To Time Based Problem solving in Art & Design Unit 8: Developing and Art & Design Project Unit 9: Opportunities for Progression in Art & Design
