Summary: This course will deliver a wide variety of the skills needed to succeed in a career in the media industry. Course description: This popular course is ideal if you have already decided to pursue a career in the media, and/or wish to progress the Level 3 Extended Diploma then on to higher education vocational qualifications such as foundation or honours degrees in media related areas. The course is made up of eighteen units. theory is taught alongside the workshops, enabling you to gain a full understanding of media processes. You will study the following eighteen units: Music video production Research techniques Pre-production techniques Production management Working to a brief Critical approaches to media products Understanding the media Film and video editing techniques Single camera techniques Factual TV production Film studies Social action and community media production Speech Package Production Presentation techniques Digital graphics for print Photography and photographic practice Working freelance in the media industry TV advert production Corporate and promotional video promotion Advertising Every one of our students who has wanted to go on to higher education has done so, and we have a good track record of students moving directly into work with several local broadcasters. As a new member of our team you will need the following skills: Enthusiasm for the area of work Commitment to the work and flexibility to film outside college hours Ability to take direction, accept criticism and work well under pressure Focused self-disciplined and motivated Excellent communication skills Creative and imaginative Ability to work well as part of a team Organised Able to reflect and evaluate own practice Ability to manage time effectively (you will always be working to tight deadlines) In addition to your main programme, you will study English and Maths.
