This Level 3 course is designed for those interested in careers in any of the uniformed services including the Army, RAF, Navy, Ambulance Service, Police, Fire Service, Prison Service and Customs and Excise. Successful completion of the Diploma / Extended Diploma will enhance skills needed for a career in the public services and passing the selection process. The Level 3 Diploma / Extended Diploma provides access to courses in higher education as well as a good starting point for those wishing to work in sports or outdoor pursuits, as units include a variety of outdoor and fitness sessions such as kayaking, rock climbing, mountaineering, sailing and practical gym work. Students develop vital life skills like teamwork, communication, leadership, discipline and respect and should be prepared to interact with these in order to develop as individuals. Students should be prepared to undertake a course that has an equal mix of practical and theory units and that their overall grade at the end of the course will be based on both areas of study.Students should also be aware that the theory based units are generall taught in the Winter months to maximise the local climate for the practical units during the Spring/Summer.
