Summary: This course is for people who are passionate about developing a career in dance Course description: This is a practical, work related course where you learn through completing projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations and activities. It includes a variety of core and specialist units, including: Principles of Performance Engaging with an Audience Performance Skills and Context Collaborative Performance Project Extended Project Dance styles taught include Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Street, Lyrical, Contemporary, Commercial. You will also develop their own choreographic skills and create your own work. You will participate in public performances and become part of our theatre company,Platform Productions. The company's artistic policy is to provide theatre of the highest quality within the local community and beyond. The level 3 Diploma in Dance is a nationally recognised qualification which is the equivalent to three A Levels. Key tasks are likely to include: - preparing for performances by rehearsing and exercising - performing to live audiences - studying and creating choreography - discussing and interpreting choreography - learning and using other skills such as singing - for example musical theatre, requires a combination of performance skills - taking care of the health and safety of yourself and others, which requires knowledge and observation of physiology and anatomy, as well as safe use of premises and equipment to avoid injury - develop research and rehearse/polish performances in your own time - liaising with arts and dance organisations - managing the day to day running of the theatre, including front of house duties
