The Foundation Access course is primarily for students aged 19+ who aspire to apply to university by undertaking the full time Access to HE course, but who do not yet have sufficiently high skill levels (of literacy/numeracy/ICT/academic study) to succeed on the Access to HE course. Foundation Access has been specifically designed to support progress onto Access to HE and then on to university application, although this will depend on your success and attendance on this initial programme.Within Foundation Access you will: • Undertake GCSE English Language and/or GCSE Mathematics, if you do not already have these qualifications/do not have them at an appropriate level for university application; • Undertake the Ascentis Award Diploma in Progression - this will be taken at level 2, but with continuous work towards your building level 3 literacy/numeracy/ICT/academic study skills, ready to undertake the level 3 challenges of Access to HE; • Study key perspectives and principles of a range of specialist subjects, including: psychology, sociology, biology, history, literary studies, law) Throughout the Foundation Access course you will also: • Improve your inter and intra-personal skills • Improve key wider and transferable skills desired by universities and employers • Develop research skills and investigate your chosen career.
