This qualification is aimed at those currently working in, or looking to work in, children and young people's settings covering the age range 0-19 years. Learners will experience a broad understanding of the Children and Young People's Workforce sector and an introduction to the practical skills and knowledge required. Typical job roles in this area would include: Care Worker, Childminder, Nursery Nurse, Youth and Community Worker.

Learners are assessed through a combination of assignments and workplace evidence. For example: observation, professional discussion and witness testimony. A programme of five one-day workshops covers key subject areas. These are held regularly and learners can choose from a selection of dates and locations. Successful candidates will achieve the City & Guilds Course Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young Person's Workforce upon completion.
