Introduction to Pattern Cutting: Tops

UPDATED 20160720 09:44:59

If you find the concepts behind flat pattern cutting challenging and would like to approach the subject in a less technical way, this introductory course is an ideal opportunity for you to learn some basic pattern cutting techniques and to familiarise yourself with the use of the tools and the terminology of the subject. You will be shown how to use simple geometric shapes as the basis of patterns for contemporary garments. A different garment is taught each term: autumn - skirts, spring - tops, summer - trousers. Learn how to use 2D shapes of circles, squares, triangles, etc. to produce patterns for fashionable 3D garments and get to grips with the basic concepts of flat pattern cutting. The course is suitable for anyone with an interest in making patterns for clothes. No previous experience is required.
