This course is for those who work, or who want to work, in a wide range of children and young people's settings, covering the age range 0-19 years. Example roles include: Child minder, Pre-school and Nursery Assistant and Youth and Community Worker.It has been designed to: • provide the practical skills and knowledge required to work in the Children and Young People's Workforce sector • provide an awareness of the range of jobs and work settings in this sector • encourage students to reach a level of knowledge and skills that will enable progress into further vocational learning or to potential employment in the sector, whilst introducing them to the discipline of the working environment • provide opportunities for progression to the Level 3 Diploma and other related qualifications in the sector Beckminster House, Birches Barn Road, Wolverhampton WV3 7BG This is a work-related qualification which ensures that whilst on your placement you gain valuable experience in the workplace, alongside the qualification, to record on your CV. This qualification is valued by all schools and is highly beneficial whether you are employed or looking for employment. Your teacher will help you develop the knowledge, understanding and skills in a set class through planned lessons, discussions, tutorials and practical activities, but you will also learn through your experiences at your work placement. This qualification is both knowledge and competence based. This means that it is linked to your ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with your work placement. Assessment is continuous throughout the course in the form of written assignments and observation. Your tutor will negotiate assessment plans with you on a regular basis and give you feedback on how well you are doing.
