This Guitar course aims to provide an overview to improvisation on the guitar by outlining three common approaches: the major and minor pentatonic scales often utilised by blues, rock and country players; the modal, or scale based method favoured by modern jazz and some rock players; and the use of arpeggios, as favoured by 'swing' style jazz players., It is aimed at any fairly proficient player who may have already started improvising, but would like to explore different styles and expand their knowledge, like, for example, a blues guitarist who would like to add some jazz tinges to their playing, or a modal jazz player who would like to expand their approach by utilising arpeggios. , Suitable for those who have a basic knowledge of guitar playing, who wish to improve their knowledge of chords and techniques and gain musical enjoyment from the experience of playing. The style of the great blues guitarists of the Mississipi Delta will be looked at for inspiration to help you play.
