This course covers different hand building techniques such as pinching, coiling and slabbing. It also covers basic throwing and turning skills. You will be encouraged to make and experiment using a combination of these techniques. You will also be taught different decoration techniques to apply colour using slip, glaze and oxides., , By the end of this course you should be able to:, , Understand and use a variety of hand building skills (coiling, pinching, soft and hard slab building, press moulding) to an appropriate level, , Make a variety of thrown forms that demonstrate development of throwing skills, , Use a variety of surface decorating and glazing techniques to an appropriate level, , Be aware of and work to health and safety guidelines., , Beginners and those with some experience. It is important to note that craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another person, please ask to speak to the programme manager before you enrol., ,

Entry requirements

Please wear old clothes and shoes. All pots are paid for by fired weight at a reasonable rate. Health and safety issues will be discussed and you will be instructed in the application of safe working practices.
