The course delivery will be divided into three, four week blocks. Block 1 will consist of fabrication and welding of panel sections. Block 2 involves basic vehicle body and repair principles. Block 3 focuses on refinishing application principles and paint restoration. Over the twelve weeks, candidates will learn how to fabricate panel sections and will be shown how to MIG weld, braze and oxyacetylene weld. They will then progress on to metal shaping and polyester filler repair. And then finally candidates will be introduced Paint Refinishing. This will involve application of primers and topcoat materials and rectification of paint faults. The course consists of: Health and Safety in the Automotive environment, Identification and use of tools and equipment including a range of welding techniques (MIG,Spot and Oxyacetylene). Panel replacement and alignment. Panel preparation to accept primers and top coat application.
