The Entry Level 3 Functional Skills qualification in Mathematics is an ideal qualification for learners who wish to develop their mathematics skills for use across a broad range of contexts. Achievement of this qualification will provide a platform for further progression through the development of fundamental, applied skills in mathematics. The qualification will encourage learners to demonstrate their ‘functional mathematics’ skills and are essentially concerned with developing and recognising the ability of learners to apply and transfer skills in ways that are appropriate to their situation. The aims of the qualification are to enable learners: To promote the development of mathematical skills for home, leisure and work To reward the achievement of learners for the mathematics skills they have developed To prepare learners to use mathematical skills in a broad range of familiar and working contexts The qualification is achieved through the successful completion of one external assessment. The course is flexible in design enabling the learner to attempt the formal assessment on an on-demand basis when they feel ready. We provide an 8 session training course, delivered in the workplace by a method of blended learning. Utilising specially designed workbooks to support learners through their course, each learner progresses at their own pace with full tutor support throughout. After an initial group induction session, learners meet weekly with their dedicated tutor on a one-to-one basis. There is no need to attend college and we work with the employer to ensure minimal disruption to the day to day operation of the business. These courses are fully funded, provided learners demonstrate a need for improvement in their basic English or maths skills and meet the eligibility criteria for funding.
