This course teaches you how to prepare, process, mix, mould and tray up finished dough products, as well as developing your skills in a wide range of pastry, savoury and essential food control measures. You'll develop the professional skills you'll need to work as a junior baker or within a working bakery setting. While you're in college you will take part in practical skills sessions, portfolio building and theory and IT sessions, working alongside others as part of a team. This course is suitable for you if you're already working in a bakery establishment or if you already have a Level 2 or 3 professional qualification in either food production or cookery skills. You'll spend four or five days in work and one day in college. You will gain an NVQ Level 2 in Bakery and Associated Technical Activities Functional Skills qualifications in Maths and English. You could go on to the Advanced Apprenticeship in Craft Bakery, the Advanced Apprenticeship in Professional Cookery or the Advanced Apprenticeship in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership afterwards.
