Designed to help learners build the knowledge and skills needed to support teaching and learning in schools. The units taught cover children and young people's development, the requirements of safeguarding and the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion. You must achieve 9 mandatory units and 2 optional units leading to a total of 30 credits. You will build a portfolio of evidence that supports the assessment criteria of the course. You will also be assessed in the workplace by an assessor who will judge their competency over several units within the school environment. Assessors will provide feedback to learners on their practice and will also set homework tasks to complete. College-based sessions will be for 15 weeks and will run alongside the work placement. Please note that workplace assessments continue after the college based sessions have been completed.
