Animal Management City & Guilds (NPTC) Extended Diploma Level 3

This course is for anyone with sound academic ability who wishes to study a vocational qualification which is mostly theory-based with some practical input. The course allows you to gain a supervisory level qualification which will enhance your employability in the animal industry but will also allow progression to Higher Education. Ideal if: you have a commitment to working with animals and sound academic ability with the desire to study a vocational alternative to A-levels. You'll need: five GCSEs at grade C or above, including English, mathematics and science, or an equivalent qualification. You must also demonstrate a sound commitment to working with animals. You'll learn: about animal health, feeding, animal handling and safe working, anatomy and physiology, animal biology, complete a research investigation project and work experience. Optional units may include welfare and breed development, exotic pet health and husbandry, and wildlife management and rehabilitation. Expect: practical lessons delivered at our animal units and a weekly work experience placement as well as block weeks to gain key employability skills. You'll love: spending time at Paradise Park or Dartmoor Zoological Park. You'll go onto: employment within the animal industry, or university study such as our Foundation Degrees in Animal Health and Management, Animal Behaviour and Psychology or Veterinary Nursing
