Who is the course for? This course is for people with a keen interest in working with children or young people. You might have some experience already and want to have a recognised qualification in order to gain employment or progress to study at a higher level. What can it lead to? After you complete the programme you could seek employment in childcare settings such as schools, nurseries, playgroups in an assistant role or as a nanny or childminder. Once you have experience in a supervisory or key worker post you can also progress to the L3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early years Educator) What will I study? You will learn about all aspects of children's care and education through theory lessons in college. The units you will study include; introduction to communication, introduction to equality and inclusion, safeguard the welfare of children and young people, support positive behaviour, paediatric emergency first aid, support children and young people at meal or snack times and many others. Additionally you will have the opportunity to develop your functional skills in English and Maths as these are important skills needed in the workplace. In placement you will have a supervisor to guide and support you in developing your practical skills in the classroom or nursery.
