Higher Apprenticeship in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals Level 4

Apprenticeships allow 16+ year olds to start work and earn a wage while learning new skills that lead to nationally recognised qualifications. Apprenticeships are designed with the help of employers in the industry so they offer a structured programme that takes Apprentices through the skills needed to do a job well. Most of an Apprentices training takes place on the job but they will also have to complete off-the-job training within the College. This Apprenticeship programme is designed for new entrants to a role in the IT & Telecoms sector and to provide progression and re-skilling routes for existing IT Professionals. The qualification is based on the National Occupational Standards for the industry. Apprentices can work in areas such as:Software & Web DevelopmentTechnical SupportTelecommunicationsIT Project ManagementUnits covered include:Working with ICT Hardware & SoftwareDesigning and Developing Event-driven Computer ProgramsDate Structure & AlgorithmsRemote Support for Products aor ServicesDesigning and Developing a WebsiteIn addition to generic units the apprenticeship contains vendor and industry recognised content from Microsoft Cisco Oraclem VM Ware and CompTia.The apprentice NMW applies to all 16 to 18 year old apprentices and to those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. If the apprentice is aged 19 and / or has completed the first year of their Apprenticeship the employer must pay the NMW appropriate for their age.
