What will I do on this A Level? You will go out in the field as part of this subject so that you can experience geography first hand. This helps our students get higher grades in their exams. Geography is concerned with many key issues of the 21st century natural hazards, biodiversity, urban development, sustainability, population change, energy supply and much more. Increasingly, it is becoming vital to understand these issues and how they could influence the future of our planet. Geography is also a subject that provides you with many skills that employers are now requiring. Study subjects include Dynamic Landscapes - Tectonic Processes and Hazards, Landscape Systems, Processes and Change Dynamic Places - Globalisation, Shaping Places Contested planet - management of water and energy resources, threats to biodiversity, superpowers and bridging the development gap, and the technological fix Geographical research - choose from topics including tectonic hazards, cold environments, life on the margins, cultural diversity, pollution and health risks and leisure in rural areas A choice of research topics. How will I be assessed? You will do three written exams and complete an independent coursework investigation. What options do I have after completing this A Level? A degree at university in geography or other related subject Geography is a flexible qualification, giving access to a variety of careers and courses. Geography students are highly valued because of their skills in data analysis, communication and team working.
