Who is the course for: This course is for those who wish to follow a broad based video production course that allows them to go on to university or work in the media industry. Course Content: Yr 1 course = 90 credits Yr 2 course = additional 90 credits (total 180 credits) Course units include: Studio-based production Understanding the media Film, television and video studies Experimental video Interview techniques Production management Video editing Advertising. These are covered through a variety of practical project briefs closely linked to industrial practises and offer the opportunity to produce original short films as well as work on live briefs for clients who, in the past, have included the BBC, Coca-Cola and Chocolate Films. Study Methods: Students will be working in industry standard studios, on location and be given access to professional edit facilities. You will be working on productions in practical, theoretical and written ways, delivering producation portfolios and showreels of practical work. How is the course assessed: Continual assessment across a braod range of project breifs through regular feedback and action planning in both practical and written assignments. Where next - Further Studies: Progress from the 90 credit Diploma to the Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production. After completing the Extended Diploma progress onto a higher education courses linked to media or directly to industry with a showreel. Where next - Job Opportunities: Gain employment in a broad range of creative roles in the media industry such as director, screenwriter or camera operator. Past students have also taken up apprenticeships with employers such as Pinewood Studios.
