This qualification meets the needs of learners who work or want to work with children in a wide range of settings, for example in the roles of nursery nurse, early years educator or childminder. This qualification is a work based award and learners' skills and knowledge are assessed in the workplace whilst they are working directly with children, young people, their families and colleagues. An assessor will help them plan and gather a portfolio of evidence of their daily routines. They must be working in a real nursery/school or child minder setting on a full or part time basis and in paid work and it is really important for the learners to have a good support network within their role.
