UPDATED 20160420 14:50:29

Y12 Level Art & Design Coursework/Portfolio The course involves working on a variety of approaches to gain experience over a range of media and to consider new artistic avenues. The course begins with a 3 week introduction to basic skills such as drawing, painting, collage, charcoal etc. Students will then work on a portraiture unit building a portfolio of work resulting in the production of a final piece that is based on all the research and practise they have done. This project can be done in any media they chose including drawing, painting, use of photography sculpture or textiles, and any size and the final piece should take about 15 hours. Students are encouraged to work and make informed decisions independently. Exam Project and Controlled Test Students receive an Exam paper in January which they then work and research on until April at which point they produce a final piece. The exam questions are very flexible and students again can choose the media and size they work to. They will find that they can adapt the question matter toward the subjects they are interested in. Assessment and Examination: Coursework Portfolio Project - 50% Exam Project / Controlled Test- 50%
