This is a course suitable for all abilities who are seeking to learn counselling skills, and anyone who already has experience of working in a helping role who wishes to obtain a qualification for their skills. It will also act as a bridging course for those with relevant helping/counselling experience to access the FdA counselling degree course at UCS, provided they already have a Level 3 qualification in other areas. Anyone progressing from this course, without a Level 3 qualification will be able to enter onto the CAVA Access Diploma to HE Counselling course, or a Level 3 award in counselling. The Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) model consists of three elements, which together set out what a trainee needs to learn in order to work as an effective helper* or counsellor:1: Seven processes that contribute to therapeutic change ,2: Three ways of understanding and working with therapeutic change ,3: Three levels of therapeutic change *The term 'helper' is widely used within the field to refer to someone who is using counselling skills as part of their work but who is not working in formal counselling relationships.
