Learn a range of the basic techniques and processes of printmaking, e.g. monoprinting, collagraph, lino and wood block, drypoint and safe etching. Students will be introduced to the concepts of image origination and transfer, preparation of the printing plate or block, the selection of papers and application of inks, and the use of the printing press. An experimental approach will be encouraged., , By the end of this course you should be able to:, Produce a basic image that can be develop as a print., Transfer an image to a printing plate or block., Select and use a range of printmaking tools, inks, papers., Use the press to produce a print., Work to health and safety guidelines, , , Beginners and those with experience. It is important to note that craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity.

However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils.You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. Some of our centres have their own 'shops' where you are able to buy things at competitive prices.If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.
