This Lipreading course in Dover is for anybody who has an acquired hearing loss and wants to learn to communicate better in general converation with family, friends and colleagues. , , By the end of the course, successful students will be able to:, , - recognise visible consonant lip shapes, long vowels and double vowels and cope with non-visible sounds,, - use body language and facial expressions to assist lipreading,, - use fingerspelling to aid lipreading,, - recognise good conditions and helpful tactics for lipreading - seating, lighting etc,, - acquire and access information about assistive equipment available for home/office and about agencies which are helpful to people with a hearing loss. , , Students will also benefit from sharing experiences with others who have a hearing loss. They will find lipreading classes are positive, motivating and enjoyable. They will benefit from increased observation skills, increased confidence and reduced stress., , Join this course at any time subject to availability. For adults of all ages who have an acquired hearing loss needing communication support, ie. people who have developed a hearing loss after they have learned to speak. For those who have attended lipreading classes for two years or more or who are confident and require a faster pace or wish to return to lipreading and up-date skills.
