This programme provides Open University validated study at Level 6 for students who have successfully completed the Construction and the Built Environment programmes at Levels 4 and 5. You will progress to this programme, within the college, on completion of these Level 4 and Level 5 programmes. Applications from students who have completed an HNC/HND or related programmes at other institutions will also be considered, using the college's Accreditation of Prior Learning procedures to determine each candidate's point of entry. This BSc is ideal for construction staff who previously gained their HNC/HND in Construction some time ago and wish to progress at higher education and a managerial position within the construction industry. The course will run over two years on a part-time basis and ideally, you should be employed either part- or full-time in a construction-related job. You will be studying on a part-time basis on one full day per week. On this course you will complete five modules of study delivered over two years. You will extend your knowledge in the following specialist units: - Project Design Management; - Refurbishment and Redevelopment of Existing Buildings; - Sustainable Building Technology; - Professional Practice in Construction Management; - Dissertation (Final Year Project).

The assessment methods used on the programme reflect the role of the manager in the construction industry and require you to evaluate and synthesise information, apply research methods and digital technologies, to produce written essays and reports that resonate with your everyday employment. The assessment tasks will also prepare you for tasks that you will undertake in managerial roles, e.g. public presentations and public speaking. You will be supported by their Personal Tutor/Dissertation Supervisor throughout the process of developing your Dissertation proposal, literature search, research and writing up of this substantial piece of work.
