Art and Design (Digital) BTEC Level 2 Diploma

UPDATED 20160407 13:17:49

This Level 2 First Diploma in Art and Design (Digital) is for anyone who really enjoys experimenting with digital technology, for example, digital cameras, scanners, computers and software. It encourages creativity whilst focusing on the development of practical skills and teaches you how to express your ideas through visual language. The course work will cover a variety of different project briefs through which you will experience digital image making, graphic design for screen and print, website development and animation. On this course you will learn about the work of other artists and designers and what opportunities there are to work within the art and design industry. These lessons will not only take place in college, but also through visits to museums, art galleries and to organisations within the art and design industry. There will also be field trips where students will gather research for your projects. The work produced on the course will form the basis of your own portfolio, which will be essential if you intend to apply to do a Level 3 Art and Design qualification, either at Stafford College or any other college. To achieve, you have to successfully complete seven core/mandatory and four optional specialist units. All of these will be covered by course work and some self-directed study. At the end of the course, all students have the opportunity to participate in the annual art and design exhibition. ENGLISH & MATHS We are committed to helping students improve their skills in English and maths. Students on a full-time course at College who missed out on GCSE qualifications at grades A-C in these subjects at school will attend additional classes and receive support to enhance their grades. Depending on individual ability, students will work towards GCSE, City & Guilds or Functional Skills awards to ensure that they have the qualifications needed to progress to university or employment.
