Physics will allow you to study the world around you at every level - from the smallest particle to galaxies remote in space and time. Physics A level will prepare you for a career or further study in physics, engineering, and other sciences. It is also respected as an academic subject by leading universities for degrees as diverse as law and philosophy. The theoretical topics are always related to practical applications, with the teaching of practical skills incorporated throughout the course. There is no coursework, but the practical skills are assessed separately in each year. A level exams are taken in June of Year 2. The full physics course will run over two years and an A level is awarded at the end of the second year. You will be studying six modules throughout the two years including a practical endorsement that will not count towards your final grade, but be an indicator of your ability to carry out scientific procedures safely and accurately. - Mechanics including forces, motion, work and energy - Electrons, Waves and Photons including electric current, resistance, DC circuits, waves and quantum physics - The Newtonian World including Newton's laws and momentum, circular motion, simple harmonic motion, oscillations and thermal physics - Fields, Particles and Frontiers of Physics including electric and magnetic fields, capacitors and exponential decay, nuclear physics, medical imaging and modelling the universe
