Students follow the AQA AS and A2 specification, comprising of cultural and literary topics. The course is divided into five lessons at As and six at A2 with a literary topic 'Der Besuch der alten Dame' at A2 and 'Das Leben der Anderen' as a cultural topic. Students also have the opportunity to do work experience in Germany in Years 12 & 13. Examination is in May-June with oral examinations held by the teacher.
