The course is made up of 12 units; studied over a two year period. The units combine a range of practical and theoretical subjects. Name: Public Services Diploma Level 3 Qualification title: Diploma in Public Services (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment The course is assessed through a variety of assessment methods; including reports; essays; discussions; booklets and presentations. It is important therefore that you already possess a good level of writing skills. Practical activities are mainly assessed through observation; with opportunities to attend residential placements that are also assessed. Students should be able to demonstrate research skills and be self-motivated learners. New technology is also embedded into learning and assessment; so learners will be encouraged to electronically upload work to the virtual learning environment; blog with other learners and watch video links and listen to podcasts and post their views. . Each unit studied will be graded as pass; merit or distinction. This course is equivalent to 60 credits which equals 460 - 520 UCAS points in the first year. If students progress onto the second year of the course to top up to 120 credits (and achieve a full level 3 diploma); at the end of the year they will have gained between 880 - 1060 UCAS points in total.
