The advanced apprenticeship lasts approximately 12 to 18 months although the majority of learners achieve in around 12 months. The main hairdressing qualification within the advanced apprenticeship (NVQ in Hairdressing Level 3) includes client consultations, advanced cutting techniques, advanced colouring and colour correction, creative styling and dressing hair and options for perming hair, hair extensions and various business units. Key skills in Application of Number and Communication at level 2 or Functional Skills in English and Maths at level 2 are also a component of the advanced apprenticeship. A module covering Employment Rights and Responsibilities is also included.
