Sociology

UPDATED 20160322 14:47:19

Sociology is broadly speaking, the study of society or the individual in society. It looks, at the relationship between society and individuals, from a variety of different perspectives using the topics of poverty, education, crime and global development as a focus. As things in the social world are socially constructed, i.e. not real or tangible, then sociology provides a valuable insight into the social world around you and the realisation that few things in life have right or wrong answers, just different views on them. Overall, sociology allows students to develop a framework for critically examining the social world. Sociology fits well with all other social science subjects, as well as the humanities, English and even the sciences.
