Music Technology - AS

UPDATED 20160317 11:27:49

If you enjoy using music software, and like the idea of recording performances in specialist accommodation with first-class facilities, then Music Technology at Barton Peveril is for you. Our studio facilities are second to none, and offer a unique opportunity to learn the basics of sound recording in a friendly, supportive environment. For your coursework, you will produce three pieces of practical work. All three feature the use of Logic Pro software on Apple Mac computers. The sequencing and arranging projects involve the recreation of a pre-existing pop or rock song using Logic instruments. For sequencing, a song is reproduced as closely as possible to the original, enabling you to learn how to edit and manipulate MIDI sounds. For arranging, you are required to reproduce a song in a contrasting style. At A2, the arranging project is replaced by a composition task. For the multi-track (studio) recording, you are given the opportunity to make a recording of a pop or rock song of your choice, which will eventually comprise between 8-12 tracks (12-24 at A2).
