A study of three components, A study of religion (likely to be Christianity) - key Christian teachings and practices Philosophy of Religion - arguments for the existence of God and challenges to them; evil and suffering Religion and Ethics- ethical theory , including Situation ethics, Utilitarianism, Natural law and application to ethical issues Modules & Assessment Each module will be assessed by a 2 hour examination at the end of the A level course. The module examinations at AS level will be 1hour 15 minutes for each paper. Students will have to answer 2 questions out of 4 at each level. Next Steps Students who have studied this in the past have found it particularly useful for both Law and Medicine, with its consideration of ethical issues and ethical theory, as well as Journalism, Teaching, Nursing and a wide variety of other courses. It can be used as a stepping stone to any degree and has the same status as any other subject; it is not regarded as a 'soft option' by universities as the analytical skills developed in this subject are helpful for all courses.
