Music: Composers in Context

We shall be considering the lives and music of five great composers (Purcell, J.S Bach, Mozart,, Verdi and Shostakovich) and listening to many musical examples, noting how their compositions were greatly affected by the prevailing social and cultural conditions in which each worked.
