The television and film industries are rapidly expanding areas with constantly changing technology. Throughout this course, specialist modules will allow you to study TV and Film Production via drama, documentary, news, factual reporting and scriptwriting. One third of the course deals with media theory. The course is suited to motivated students who are keen to see their ideas realised and who enjoy working in a creative environment. It is the equivalent of 3 A Levels and is designed to give an introduction to the Media through practical experience, where you can learn about the processes of Media Production by making your own programmes. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults who would like a career in the media, film & television industries or who are progressing from a related level 2 qualification. You will study the following: * Music Video * Documentaries * Film Trailers * Short Films * Advertising * Work for External Clients There are no exams; the course is delivered through a series of assignments that are supported by theory and practical sessions. These culminate in a final major project at the end of your second year where you devise and produce your own video production from script to screen. This is then premiered at the end of year public show. Productions are worked on both in the studio and on location using professional equipment and edited on digital editing suites. The course is approximately 65% practical and 35% theory (the majority of this forms background research and planning for your productions). All LMC students will receive tutorial support. All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and maths qualifications or GCSE Maths, English if not already awarded an A*-C in these subjects. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into Further or Higher education, training or employment.
