Public Services Higher National Diploma (HND)

UPDATED 20160302 14:00:43

This programme has been designed to provide you with the opportunity to develop higher level skills within a public services context. Vocational opportunities have been included to help you to develop a range of skills techniques and attributes essential for success in your working life. The programme concentrates mainly but not exclusively on police and justice related modules. However it does link to other blue light services and provides a good grounding for the emergency services in general. A key part of our student experience is the integration of academic learning and vocational skills. For example in the first year our student led company 'TeamworXs' offers our HND students the unique opportunity to manage and run leadership events and training sessions for local schools and organisations. This gives students practical experience in activities related to modules such as Organisational Behaviour and Public Service Activity Management and also helps students understand aspects of public sector finance. In the second year students are supported to arrange either paid or voluntary work-based learning opportunities as part of the Work-based Experience module.
