Functional ICT are core skills taught in discreet sessions. These sessions span the first two years of a 3 year programme and are embedded into the third year sessions. Skills, knowledge and understanding are taught in a functional way to enable a young person to be literate in life and work. On admission to the college a baseline assessment is carried out; this indicates the level that the young person is currently working at and ensures that their programme is pitched at the correct level. The qualification levels (Entry 1 to 3, progressing to Level 1 & 2) are split into sublevels from E-A. The very beginning of a level is E and the top of the level is A. Learners are working towards City and Guilds qualifications and will be given the opportunity to sit these when they reach the top end of the level.
