Sugarcraft and Cake Decorating - Cakes for Children

Learn how to ice a celebration cake with sugar paste icing and to create effects such as crimping, piped royal icing shells, edible beads and how to attach ribbon to a cake. Students will learn how to add colour to sugar paste and how to make a cartoon character cake topper, how to model animals and vehicles, and how to create lettering. The following should be brought to the course by students:- A clean apron and tea towel - plastic cake smoother- rolling pins preferably plastic large and small - small flat bladed table knife or small palette knife - plastic board or mat - small sieve - sugar shaker with icing sugar - small unused paintbrush (artist type) - cocktail sticks - polystyrene cake dummy 7 inch round - 10 ` round cake board - a pair of crimpers - 1kg of ready to roll icing -sugar flair paste colours, Christmas Red, Christmas Green, Chestnut, Egg Yellow and Baby Blue - small packet of black ready coloured icing - small plastic pots with lids - plastic sandwich box to store left over icing - a cake box to carry your cake to and from the class - a set of alphabet and number cutters- plastic or metal. Please do not buy any materials until your course is confirmed as running.
