The BTEC course is a vocational qualification that will equip students with the essential skills and knowledge for a future study or a career in business. It offers the chance to gain a qualification on a more practical level, both in the way that they are taught and assessed through the completion of coursework. Students will undertake a number of units for which they present evidence, based on real-life work and studies. This allows them to demonstrate their skill and knowledge in practical situations. During the course students will develop their group work, IT and presentation skills. Students will study 12 units of work over the 2 years, these consist of: • The business environment • Business resources • Introduction to marketing • Business communications • Business accounting • Internet marketing in business • Recruitment and selection in business • Human resource management in business • Managing a business event • Understanding retailing • Starting a small business • Business markets and the economy
