History

UPDATED 20161125 15:16:21

By studying History at A-level you should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of different historical periods and problems through explanation and analysis, to arrive at substantiated judgements. You will analyse and evaluate a range of source material and interpretations of the past, with discrimination. You will develop an interest and understanding of the way that the world has developed; making and backing up arguments; consideration of evidence and making judgements; development of independent learning through lectures, group work, investigations, role play, individual research and source analysis. Selected AS students have the opportunity to visit Auschwitz with the Holocaust Educational Trust. We hold an Annual Lecture by tutors from the University of Leicester, covering both A2 and AS topics. Students are encouraged to attend extra-curricular courses run by universities throughout the course.
