Originating from the massage techniques used in Scandinavian countries, this treatment is often called Swedish massage. The invigorating massage concentrates on removing physical tension from all areas of the body. The course is designed for adults who wish to train for a career in massage therapy. During the programme students will learn a variety of basic massage techniques designed to relieve physical and mental tension. To succeed as a massage therapist, you will also need excellent practical and interpersonal skills therefore the majority of the time spent in college will be in a practical situation working on clients. This is also designed to develop a responsible and professional attitude towards clients and their needs. During the course students will study the following subject areas: • Basic massage techniques • Postural exercise • Relaxation techniques • Client care and consultation • Client reception • Anatomy and physiology of the human body (in order to fully comprehend the effects of massage treatment).
