Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance) equivalent to one A Level The Level 3 courses in Dance will develop your current levels of skill and introduce you to new areas of dance. The course will also give you a thorough grounding to the background to dance. You will have the opportunity to combine theory and practice in an exciting and stimulating way, developing yourself as an individual artist as well as gaining a sound understanding of professional practice in the dance world. The Academy has a purpose built dance studio with sprung floors and mirrors, as well as a dance performance space. The course consists of practical sessions, workshops and performances, covering a range of skills competencies and knowledge. The course consists of core and specialist elements. Core elements deal with the background and development of the Performing Arts and their importance in society both currently and historically. There is a requirement to be involved in all the processes of production and performance. The specialist areas provide opportunities to participate actively in a variety of dance styles including Ballet, Jazz Dance, Contemporary, Urban Dance, Choreography, Contact Improvisation, Musical Theatre and Dance Improvisation.
